Many investors have a couple of preferred stocks thrown into their portfolios. Reasons vary for the introduction to investor allocation but many preferreds have steady dividends. I don’t know if you’re like me but it’s a tremendous hassle to find information on preferred stocks.
Of all the places I’ve looked, I have to say that QuantumOnline has the best resources for those investors looking to get listings, filings, etc. on preferred stocks.
The site does a good job of listing different types of securities (from ETFs to CEFs, to Royalty Trusts to REITS). Users are asked to sign up (free registration) to access certain search functions. Otherwise, investors using QuantumOnline can slice and dice its listings in various ways. Links are provided to the preferred stocks’ filings with the SEC so investors can read about debt seniority or structure (some preferreds have some built in optionality, like convertible bonds).
The site has a lot of info but it’s a bit clunky. Nevertheless, this info is hard to find (Google Finance doesn’t even supply quotes for a lot of these securities — Yahoo Finance is better) and QuantumOnline has lots of it.
